I want save downloaded file to the external SD
Is there any way to change the default downloads folder?
Usually this setting is in the file manager but the one in /e/OS doesn’t seem have anything like that.
In what Android OS or OS’s file manager is the download manager configurable?
I do not believe I have seen that on custom ROMs using the default filemanager (DocumentsUI).
Most of the articles & tips showing it possible seem to be on OEM stock. In those cases it would be under Settings → Storage where there is/was a Download Manager section. On custom all I ever see is just the Storage Manager section.
Some other tips say you can use ES File Explorer(*) to change location.
(*) App has over a few dozen trackers. Not recommended.
There"s an app I completely forgot about but used to use on my old Samsung with 8GB storage called FolderMount. Allowed for symlinking directories, such as internal Download to external SD.
Required root I think. No idea how it works nowadays.
Making use of a download manager is also an option for some cases, like Download Navi.
Lastly, some kind of local sync app that monitors the Download directly. Once something lands there it gets moved to an SD card location.
Many thanks marcdw, i used the Samsung ROM of my s8 for five Yeats before landing in /e/os, but i think to remember there was such option in cyanogenmod…may be my memory is in fault ![]()
Searching the web I also have seen the solutions you refer, but i was wondering if this option was hidden somewhere in /e/ os settings and i was unable to find it.
At the moment i’m using navi… But also foldermount or some sort of sync tools seems interesting.
Thanks again.
I think this is an over simple answer … but in the case of downloads by the default Browser, there is a setting
Browser > Settings > Downloads > Ask where to save files.
Of course if one wants to store on say SD card one only gets the one location !
@aibd , Getting so used to phones without external SD I forgot that works, at least on Chromium-based browsers. ![]()
@purpleleaf , that old Sansung I mentioned runs CyanogenMod 12 (Android 5 Lollipop) but I could"t find anything there either.
