Thank you, the link led to very useful info. I could not get an acceptable voice tone by tweaking the e-speak settings. However, I have installed IVONA tts engine (from info contained in the linked topic) and the voice is excellent. Rather an involved procedure for me, being not particularly tech-savvy, but the result was well worth it.
