"Choose folder" > "Use this folder" > "Allow" action has no effect

I’ve noticed the following problem with Obsidian (1) first, and now Signal (2) Chat backups (3). Both apps were installed via App Lounge.

When going through the built-in workflow of choosing a folder, browsing the filesystem and confirming the selected folder, the exact same in-app screen appears again, without any of the folder-relevant action being performed, apparently.

Is there any /e/OS setting related to permissions or background state of apps that I might have set too strictly? Is this a known bug?
