Clarification command line install pixel 4a 5G

Hi,
while I am waiting someone to help for the easy install I was reading the guide for the command line installation, to see if I can do it…and more I read it more I am confused.

on the guide Install /e/OS on a Google Pixel 4a 5G - “bramble” it says:

Downloads for bramble

To understand the difference between /e/OS builds check this guide

  • Before following these instructions please ensure that the device is on the latest Android 13 firmware.

But both the links go to the same page…and on the page there is no “/e/OS Recovery” neither “/e/OS build”
I tried to follow the link “To understand the difference between /e/OS builds” but the /e/OS recovery and build are not mentioned.
I also realized I have android 14, what shall I do? can it work anyway? And easy install can work on version 14?

So I found the Unified install guide project for e [HOWTO] an Unified Install Guide Project for /e/ where it says:

4) Download a custom recovery manager .img

On your PC,

see details for TWRP

see details for “recovery-e”

But the TWRP link doesn’t have a download for the Pixel 4a 5G, and the link indicated for the “recovery-e” Smartphone Selector doesn’t mention the “recovery-e” at all!

I am completely lost!

Hi, @domi84, welcome to this forum.

First, you need to downgrade your actual system to Gogol Android 13 T as described here : Factory Images for Nexus and Pixel Devices  |  Google Play services  |  Google for Developers

Then you need to unkock your bootloader and flash the 3 files included into the https://images.ecloud.global/dev/bramble/recovery-IMG-e-2.2-t-20240717417775-dev-bramble.zip using “fastboot” commands.

Finally you will be abble to install https://images.ecloud.global/dev/bramble/e-2.2-t-20240717417775-dev-bramble.zip using the “recovery-e”

Indeed but the latest downloads are shown on this line

For this device, the prefix “IMG” is a “hint” that the actual e-recovey is in a .zip file… The install page says

Flashing additional partitions

  1. First unzip the /e/OS Recovery file linked in the section marked Downloads for bramble .

The unziped folder will contain

boot-e-2.2-t-20240717417775-dev-bramble.img
dtbo-e-2.2-t-20240717417775-dev-bramble.img
recovery-e-2.2-t-20240717417775-dev-bramble.img

and sha256sums for verification.
