Clone app on samsung S9 (whatsapp)

Hello,
I’m trying to find something that do same thing that the huawei I had before : cloning app to have 2 distincts profiles on an app. Especially Whatsapp, that the only app that I need to clone, because I have dual SIM, I need to have 2 accounts whatsapp (personal and professional).

I tried Shelter but I don"t understand how to have a second whatsapp profile, I’m not sure that is possible, or I miss something. I have a samsung S9, if this detail is useful.

Hello.

Within Shelter, from personnal profile, tic on WA, chose “install to pro.”.

This second WA will use “Pro.” version of Contacts, empty by default. After adding wanted contacts there, WA needs to run once with unfrozen “Contacts”…

But it seem that I don’t have exactly what you’re saying.

When I’m launching Shelter, I have two tabs “Main profile” (profil principal in french) and “Shelter”. Whatsapp appear only in the Shelter tab. When I click on it, I have the following options (I’ll translate):

  • Clone to main profile
  • Freeze
  • Launch
  • Enable widgets in the main profile
  • Automatic freeze
  • create a shortcut to unfreeze and/or launch
  • Uninstall

I tried “clone to the main profile” but it seem that is the same whatsapp, with the same account.

Je pense que tu as pris le problème a l’envers. Normalement tu installes d’abord l’appli que tu veux sur ton profile principale et tu le clones vers shelter ensuite.
Dans ton cas j’ai l’impression que tu as installer WA via le App Lounge dans shelter. Ce doit être possible et ca doit sans doute fonctionner (je n’ai pas fait comme ca pour mes appli dans shelter).

Encore mieux, je te conseille d’arrêter WA et de passer à signal, olvid ou telegram :wink:

I think you have the problem backwards. Normally you first install the app you want on your main profile and then clone it to shelter.
In your case I think you installed WA via the App Lounge in shelter. This should be possible and it should probably work (I didn’t do this for my apps in shelter).

Salut, oui effectivement il semble qu’il faille d’abord installer Shelter, puis Whatsapp via le aurora démarré depuis Shelter.

Mais en fait, si j’ai bien tout compris, Shelter créé un “compte professionnel” sur le phone afin, entre autre, de démarquer le carnet de contact de manière à brider les fiches de contact en accès pour WA & FB.
Ca doit être top question vie privée, traçage et cyber sécurité, mais ça ne me plaît pas spécialement.

Petite parenthèse, je suis de près les publications de la CNIL et je suis à peu près convaincu qu’en Europe, grâce à la RGPD, Meta a perdu le droit de collecter des information nominative. Mais ça a peut-être évoluer défavorablement depuis ma dernière vérification (qui date de 2 ans, tout de même).

Du coup, finalement ma question est Shelter est-il l’unique moyen de cloner une app (telle que WA) ?

EDIT du genre “je donne mon avis bien que personne me l’ai demandé”: en fait personnellement je déteste Whatsapp et toutes les autres messageries instantanées de ce type, car je suis témoin de la dégradation de la qualité de communication entre les gens qui ne se causent plus que comme ça (en mode très dégradé donc), ce qui génère des incompréhensions, de la frustration et des tensions qui n’auraient pas eu lieu d’être. Mais genre vraiment quoi, c’est ouf.
Mais … pour le boulot (et parfois le perso …>.<) ça m’est nécessaire… Pas trop le choix.

Hi, yeah indeed, Shelter should be installed first, then WA with Aurora through Shelter.

But, Shelter seem to create a “work account” on the phone, to - among other thing - distinguish and preserve the contact list to prevent FB & WA to have access to it.
That’s sound great about privacy, tracking en cyber security, but I don’t like it.

Small aside, I’m well aware of french CNIL publications and I’m pretty sure that Europe GDPR laws prevent Meta’s company to get personal nominative data through there apps, but I can had miss something during the last two years.

So finally, my question could be is Shelter the only app that clone app (like WA) ?
