I’m very happy using my /e/OS CMF-Phone 1 since Feb ‘26 by now, but recently (since around 1 Month) I noticed that the standby on-cellular battery drain got huge.
Having it just sitting around for 8h (one night on my nightstand) w/o wifi and mobile data, it drains about 25%.
Switching it to airplane mode, 8h of sitting around w/o wifi come down to 1% battery drain. Switching Wifi on, while in airplane mode, the drain is roughly 3%.
here another very pleased CMF1-User with 4.3 official .
I checked the battery drain last night, charged my phone to 93% at 9 pm, switched off mobile data and wifi and went to bed .
Today at 7 am the battery is at 85% and it predicts, it will last for 4,5 days. So I think, it depends on the distance to the nearest cell tower and the network you are on. Here in central Munich there is 3/4/5G everywhere.
Thanks for your test!
So 8% drain w/o using it and w/o having it sending/receiving data or syncing? Thats way to much in my eyes.
Especially seeing that mine uses way less battery when in airplane mode but with enabled wifi and sync. Could you please test that scenario on yours as well?
8% drain in 10 hours is what I expected keeping the connection to the cell tower alive. For sure wifi is more efficient in power saving than 4/5G (distance to the router is way smaller than to the cell tower).
I will have an eye on the battery drain this night in airplane mode with enabled wifi. /e/OS reduces the data traffic, so I think 3-5% in 10 hours will be realistic.
Nokia-times with 2-3 weeks battery life are gone .
I am not on CMF Phone, but Fairphone 6. But me as well I noticed huge battery drain since around the time I updated to 4.3. Mobile data is responsible for roughly 90% of battery drain. When I was on 4.1, I got about 2 days of phone use on one charge, whereas on 4.3 it is only less than 24 hours. I am not entirely sure it has to do with the 4.3 update but seems very likely.
Edit: as pointed out in the previous response, sure also has to do with distance to cell tower etc. But I did not move within the last month or so, or travel a lot. Mainly stayed within the same area as usual
Thats what I’m wondering about…
On older fw versions, i got around 4 Days between charges. Now i won’t get two days between charging anymore, unless i put the phone in airplane mode as much as possible…
I do know that distance to mobile tower, signal strength etc do matter. But my locations and usage patterns didn’t change that much to explain that new drain, in my mind.
At least: using airplane mode when connected to wifi, i got the 4 days back by now.
Hi, I wonder if a dodgy app could be your problem? My CMF phone one easily does 2 days on a charge (although admittely it is fairly new). That’s with WIFI on but bluetooth off.
It’s running 4.3 Official.
as my day will start at 6 am, I wasn’t able to run my mobile for another 10 hours without network. But at least my battery drain in airplane mode with wifi turned on, just takes 3% of capacity (charged to 100% yesterday at 9 pm).
