Some of the contacts that I add in the mureno.io browser app on my PC do not appear in the contacts on my Fairphone 4 phone.
If I re-save one such contact then it does update! So, in effect, I do not know without checking one by one whether my contacts are synced or how to make sure that they really are always synced.
This is intolerable. What is going on?
I always leave automatic sync set to on. But these contacts are missed even by a manual refresh (off then back on) in ‘Settings - Accounts - Contacts - Account sync’.
I don’t think the o/s version matters because the problem has persisted over a number of updates. Anyway, I have just updated to the latest but it hasn’t affected this issue (15 July 2024).
You don’t mention if you are adding these contacts to the Contacts app or Webmail app.
If the latter, these contacts are kept separate (or unavailable) on the phone.
URL: apps/contacts
I never create contacts using the phone.
I don’t use webmail, preferring to collect my mail in Thunderbird on the PC.
I have now opened and looked at the PC webmail app URL apps/snappymail but I can only see an icon for contacts that is one and the same interface and contact list that I am referring to. So I am confused regarding what might be a separate store of contacts in the webmail.
Be that as it may, it seems to me to be highly relevant that, in the PC browser app, simply re-saving a contact that is missing on the phone then enables it to sync. Could the contact somehow have been flagged as synced when in fact it wasn’t?
By the way, my browser is Brave.
I principally use the cloud to backup my phone.
There is sometimes talk on the forum about whether Murena offers “true” two way sync.
Perhaps try this:
Settings > Accounts > “your Murena accout” > My account > Settings (additional … ) > tap on the Header > CARDAV > top right 3 dot menu > Refresh address book list.
Many thanks for the suggestion. I have done what you said.
However, I don’t know if it has brought everything up to date because I can’t think of a non-laborious way of checking.
However, I don’t think it will prevent the same thing happening again in the future.
I will now check all future entries to see if they have synced, and if they haven’t I will try your cure.
Prevention would be better if anyone has any ideas?
I’ll feedback to the forum on how things turn out …
I am still having this problem after having tried the suggestion made by ‘aibd’.
I have just discovered that contacts that I delete in the web interface don’t get deleted from the phone!
What a mess!
I have now discovered that even though present on the phone, certain contacts have no details stored. None!
This makes me now wonder if some of the others have details that are not up to date.
Things are getting worse and worse.
Unless there’s a solution, I’ll have to abandon this system. And it all casts doubt on Murena since a contacts system is old-hat and should never be problematic.
