Couldn´t install E Os on Google Pixel 4a

Dear Community, at the end of the installation process (followed step by step) there war the message that “e foundation wants to connect to Google Pixel 4a”. I waited but nothing happened. My questions:

  1. How long should I wait or how can I support the connection?
  2. I use cable for connecting my computer with internet (not w-lan). Thus: Should I deactivate Wlan on my phone? Could this disturb the process of connection?
  3. Should one deactivate every setting that is not mentioned to be activated?

Thank you very much

Hi @ahoi welcome to the /e/ forum.

I see that Pixel 4a sunfish is supported by the Web Installer.

Is this a question about eosinstaller ? These hashtags will link to threads on the subject.

As you had no reply yet I guess others like me do not recognise this response.

As for waiting; in general 20 minutes would be something of a maximum unless there was some some progress bar indicating a “wait”.

As I understand it the installer (if this is the subject) communicates only via USB cable.

Thank you very much, Aibd, for welcoming me:)!

Yes. I used the description of the EOS installer: Info about Google Pixel 4a - sunfish

I could connect PC and smartphone and follow every step… but in the end there was nothing but the mentioned message.

Should I post my question again to be seen?
Thanks and kind regards

No need, other readers can see the subject more clearly now.

There is no known way to extract a log from the installer so it is hard for anyone to help you not knowing what already went ok.

You might read the manual install page Install /e/OS on a Google Pixel 4a - “sunfish”

Now if you restart the Installer the new knowledge might help taking great care with the Requirements outlined pre-install.

To help to document your progress you might collect a series of screenshots and images as you progress as this may help us to see where the problem came.

A fall back will be to just use the manual install method, here you can keep an exact record of what worked and if something fails it is easy to show the error.

  • Just a side note, as a new user, you may will be limited in the number of links or images you are allowed to post to the forum in your first days here!

Edit.

Only in case that you did actually reach the end of the install (is that likely, do you think, ~25 steps for many devices ?) did you try to reboot the phone?

Thank you very much for this answer and the link! I had a kind of short version of this manual… and didn t know some steps…I will retry according to this manual and if anything doesn t work I will again ask for your support …
Thanks a lot!
