I just tested the rom, for me, everything works, I don’t use a sim card, therefore I don’t know if the mobile data works or even if the sim is detected, for me it is fully functional, but my device does not detect the SD card, and I think it is physical damage to the SD card slot.
I have also seen that the Advanced Privacy section causes the settings app to crash
The device I used to test this is the G530M (fortunalteub)
Tested on fortuna3g (sm-g530h). Everything was fine except the “Advanced Privacy” which leads to settings app crash and force stop. I’m flashing this build with magisk for root access in twrp
Because of the SYSTEM size partition,
Advanced Privacy and some other components are not included in this build.
Why it is called CUSTOM (generic naming for modified /e/) is this case “a not full /e/ distribution”, in other case it could include options that can be considered as improvement.
Hi. I’m writing to you here — I’m using a Samsung Galaxy Tab S SM-T700 tablet. I decided to try your Android Pie ROM: e-0.23-p-20240113-UNOFFICIAL-klimtwifi. It’s a really great ROM — excellent battery life, fast, almost stable. But there’s one single bug: it’s impossible to connect Bluetooth headphones. I tried two different brands.
Is there any way to fix Bluetooth headphones? I always use them.
If this could be fixed, it would be the best ROM for this tablet.
Thank you very much!
Because the ram is free on android 8 like I’m using aosp extended and 500MB ram is free and the phone feels really smooth so uhm that’s why i prefer android 8! Reply me if u can make it
The e-2.3-r-20250118 boot and run well, but no web browser, no shop, no SMS.
The e-2.2-r-20240719, two launcher, the first boot you have to choose beetween Bliss launcher (Murena) and Trebuchet (Lineage) and SIM not detected.
The e-1.17-q-20231228 doesn’t boot. The “E” doesn’t stop.
The e-1.17-q-20250118 doesn’t boot. The “E” doesn’t stop.
I use my G530FZ, so gprimeltexx ROM, with TWRP, and I change the code in meta-inf/com/google/android/updater-script
I erease the 4 first line, all “assert” “getprop”. The beginning will “be ui_print”
in order to avoid some error message
Since its a custom build and to be able to build at all one need to remove a lot of prebuilt apks. Try to install a browser like Firefox, a messenger app like QKSMS and and app store like Aurora Store if that works
After my previous message, I downloaded APK for Stores: Aurora, F-Droid, I try also APKPure that I don’t understand and install QKSMS and another SMS App because I can’t reveive MMS. I don’t install more than 5 app, I erease and install, I used less than half of memory. I change APN in order to receive MMS. I turned off the device several times to let it digest the experience. Navigation was smooth, and I was happy to give this device a new lease of life for my son and configure it as best as possible. It would have been his first phone. It’s small, and it wouldn’t have been a big loss if he broke it or something. But unfortunately, after changing the APN in the Connection menu, the device would only reboot in Recovery mode… I spent two days on it trying to install different operating systems: Lineage 18.1 and 17.1, which installed fine, but Google apps wouldn’t connect, and the device lagged. Problem to use Family Link.
With E/OS, navigation was surprisingly smooth, I install MozillaSPot with a restriction control and would manage another system for parental control but there’s something to fix for stability. I don’t think there’s much missing, but what?
I’m giving up this time.
I’m still using my Fairphone FP3, on which I installed E/OS and then Murena myself. It’s still running perfectly even though it must have been over seven years ago…
It’s a wonderful project to fight against the GAFAMand make old smartphones usable; it’s a real resistance.
Keep it up, guys! And thank you Ronnz98!
So close to the goal and after so much time, I couldn’t give up.
So I installed the appropriate version of e-2.3-r-20250118… corresponding to my Samsung Gran Prime model, with TWRP itself installed on the smartphone using the Odin program installed on the PC. You can easily find tutorials on the web.
A tip if TWRP refuses to install the E/OS, and you’re sure you have the correct version for your smartphone: Open the zip folder OS installer, for me e-2.3-r-20250118…, drag the contents of the folder into a new folder. Navigate to meta-inf/com/google/android/updater-script. Open updater-script with notepad or another editor, delete the 4 lines starting with “assert” and containing the “getprop”. The beginning will “be ui_print”. Save and close. Go back to the root of this new folder then select all the contents, then right click to rezip everything into a new zipped folder that you will rename to the original name, for me e-2.3-r-20250118… Then try the installation again, this avoids error messages preventing the installation.
For this to work properly, when opening the E/OS account configuration on the smartphone during the first boot, you must check the box that looks like something like “replace the emergency bootloader” with the E/OS one, something I hadn’t done during the previous installation. I then downloaded the installers for the Aurora Store and F-Droid apps (APK format) to my PC on an SD card, which I then inserted into the smartphone. After installing these stores on the smartphone, I installed the missing apps: a restricted web browser for kids, an open-source SMS app, and everything worked fine. The only problem was the camera. I think my SD card was in the smartphone during installation and it was partitioned. The smartphone didn’t recognize one of the partitions, so it wouldn’t save the photos. I simply deleted the unrecognized partition. The recording problem was solved. The only problem remains the camera’s focus; it only focuses within 10 cm, otherwise it’s blurry… You can only take macro photos… I’ve downloaded several camera apps, and the problem persists. It’s not a big deal. But if anyone has a solution, I’d love it.
My son has had this phone for two days and has had no problems. Speed games obviously don’t work given the phone’s age, but everything else is surprisingly smooth. You can uninstall the app stores after installing everything you need. It acts as parental control for app downloads. With a restricted web browser, it replaces “Family Link,” but is simpler and more effective.
He’ll keep it for a few months before I give him my Fairphone FP3 with the E/OS I installed myself a long time ago. I just received a FairPhone 6, purchased directly from Murena this time in an effort to encourage resistance.
