after the new update (4.1.1) the new native password manager gives me a popup whenever I press on a login field. I do not want that, as it blocks other features, such as the password manager I am already using. Since I never set up the password manager anyway, I do expect it to stay out of my way.
So if somebody could tell me how to deactivate the popup for the password manager I would be very happy!
Open Settings → Passwords → profile icon top right → settings hopefully there is an option there to suit your needs.
there is no profile Icon for me since I did not log in or setup the password manager.
It is likely that you now have two passwords manager active at once, as Android allows such a thing.
To solve this, go in Settings → Accounts and at the top of the page you have two sections:
If you click on the first you will understand what they mean by service, it is actually the passwords manager. Select your previous password manager as the first preferred service and make sure all other passwords manager are deactivvated in the second section to avoid the double prompt you suffer from.
I used the red one with a dash ‘no profile’ I guess, and it switched the pop ups off
