Default Camera app - autofocus produces blurry images

I have a Teracube 2e. I’m running the latest 2.7 emerald /e/OS. I’m also running the latest version of the Camera app (v1.53.1).

I believe since I first purchased the phone from Murena, the autofocus has never worked well. After many updates, I’m still experiencing this problem. I’m forced to use manual focus to get clear close-up images. Have others been having this problem as well? Is this a problem specific to the Teracube 2e or is it a problem with the Camera app? Are there any fixes for this? Thank you!

I used to find with a Samsung every so often I would have to:

Camera app > Settings icon top right > Scroll to bottom > Settings manager > Reset settings.

Hi,
Same here. I have a Teracube2e Zirconia and 2.7 official with the standard “built in” camera app.
The image looks sharp through the viewer but when the picture is actually snapped, it comes out slightly, but very annoyingly, out of focus.
This has been going on for like 6 months or so, but unfortunately I do not have any recollection of ever being satisfied with the camera on this phone, even when the images were sharp.

I can confirm this behavior on a Teracube 2e Emerald using the default camera. I tap on the screen to focus, the software seems to come into focus, and then when I take the image the software defocuses the image and captures an out of focus image.

On the Teracube, the issue is especially bad inside, with artificial light, where it is more or less impossible to obtain a clear picture using the autofocus.
Overall, photos on /e/OS with the Teracube are very low quality given the hardware, I hope Murena can invest in improving the camera stack because this has definitely been a big no-no for several friends when looking for Android alternatives…
