Digital Markets Act: European Commission designates six gatekeepers

Interesting for all those living in Europe (and potentially impacting many who live outside as well).
European Commission has put in place the Digital Markets Act (DMA). Under this relatively new regulation the EU has defined now six companies as so-called “gatekeepers”. Alphabet/Google is among them. The gatekeepers will now have six months to ensure full compliance with the DMA obligations for each of their designated core platform services.

One of the obligations that will come now: Allowing the download of alternative app stores.

App Lounge, be ready by then!

Very good news, but let’s not celebrate too soon: the DMA application is not complete yet, and we know that the big tech lobbying intense to lower DMA consequences on their business. We are still and continuously working with other actors to talk to the EC and have our voice heard.
