Disable T9 (or how it is called today) on a Fairphone

HI there, having a Fairphone FP4 with /e/OS set to english. I often write SMS in German and as you can imagine the “T9” - function converts german words to funny english ones. I found a setting under “Languages & input” called Spell checker which is OFF - but isn’t. Is there any other setting where I can prevent the correction.
Thanks in advance Olfried

I changed the keyboard app and don’t remember which is the standard app. If it’s AOSP keyboard, you can change the behaviour by long pressing the comma, then choose “settings”, then Text correction and switch a couple of settings.

Yeaaaahhhh, jobal you made my day :+1: ! I also use another Keyboard but pressing komma opens a little gear, then you could choose AOSP and then the bunch of settings open.
Thanks so much

You were almost there … Settings - Languages and input - On-screen keyboard - Android Keyboard (AOSP)
(This is what gets opened by the comma shortcut.)
