We’re excited to introduce our brand-new Installer for /e/OS, now in beta! Our team has been working tirelessly to make installing /e/OS on your device simpler than ever.
This new Installer will replace the Easy Installer, offering you a seamless, step-by-step process to get /e/OS up and running on compatible devices. No more juggling multiple tools or complicated instructions!
Also, if you’re already hosting or planning to host a flash party, the Installer will be a game-changer, making the process faster, smoother, and more accessible for everyone.
You can try the Installer right now by following this link: /e/OS Installer
It’s currently accessible via Chrome-based browsers like Brave, Chromium and Google Chrome.
since there was no limitation on the phone model, I’ve started to try out the /e/OS installer.
The following is what I’ve noticed.
Instructions partly not available in German language. E.g. the part “activate-oem-unlock”. That can be a bit tricky for people not used to deal with English.
Also Help Files seem to be available in English only.
On Fairphone 5 it wants a verify code, but there is no info on what this actually is and how to get this code, also no info in the web installer help files. I’ve found out that this is about bootloader unlocking and I’ve found the procedure for fairphone 5, but it would be nice to let the user know about this. Bootloader Unlocking Code for Fairphone - Fairphone
at the end of the procedure I’m told that my Fairphone 5 is not compatible It would be nice to know in advance which are compatible or which not, so I don’t have to try the /e/OS installer in the first place. I’ve had the impression that now all supported /e/OS devices are supported with the /e/OS installer, which turns out to be false. It would be good to mention this clearly (introduction + /e/OS installer itself) that the supported device list has not changed from easy installer to /e/OS installer. I guess supported devices are still the same as with easy installer
Of course now I assume I know why there was no info on the verify code (Point 2 above).
