Do the apps communicate with each other?

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if apps can communicate with each others even from a different brand ?
Gmail <=> Chrome ?
Gmail <=> firefox ?

Same question for “can steal” data from other apps ?

Probably no direct connection between apps, but on official Android every app leaks to google/other trackers.

Also all apps are keen to learn all your contacts, but this should be controlled by permissions.
