Hi, I’m currently thinking about switching from Android to e/os (on a fairphone 5 if that is somehow important), but there seem to be problems with some banking apps.
I looked at the list of working banking apps, but didn’t find the Consorsbank app in it.
While searching this forum, I found some posts that kind of implied, that the App works on e/os, but I’m still not 100% sure if it actually works, even though The Consorsbank SecurePlus App seems to work according to the List.
So, has anyone any experience with this App and knows if it works? Thanks.
For technical reasons (= what /e/OS is and how it works) there can be no
absolute “it works” for banking Apps as well as Google-dependent Apps (which are most Apps in existence, but to different degrees).
Even if the App of choice works for anybody now, this may break at any point in time, for any period of time.
If you can live with this, perfect. Otherwise /e/OS would be the wrong choice of OS for your use case.
/e/OS is Android, too, but we know what you mean .
I use the Consosbank App (version 2.4.1) on my Murena Two, latest version. It was installed via App Lounge (“App installed by MicroG Companion”). It works perfectly.
However, I have another Android phone (without e/OS) but largely without Google and without the Play Store. I had to install the app on this phone via Aurora Store. It worked for a long time. Since the beginning of the year, it is no longer possible to use it. A message appears saying that there is a security error. I am supposed to install the app from the official Play Store.
It seems that “MicroG Companion” is still accepted as an official store. The question is, for how much longer?
Actually, clearing cache and user data, removing the app and (re)installation through app lounge fixed the problem. Consorsbank App (Germany) works again after reauthentication of my user account.
Have you cleared cache and user data before removal?
Have you installed the app through AppLounge? - I once read, that apps installed through AppLounge are marked to be installed from Playstore and hence it is regarded as more trustworthy.
This seems to be different, when you install via Aurora.
Unfortunately, I don’t have a source for that theory, but it worked for me (Murena FP5, v3.4 unrooted)
