/e/ OS "easy" installer: how to help it support multiple devices!

Firstly you are right this is the place where you can ask questions about the easy-installer
Secondly the data collection is not a requirement from /e/ it is more a request from the snap side. @galgalesh has given a nice explanation of why the details are required so no need for a further clarification.

yes, thx, I have seen. But the question still is, why is e.foundation using such spying tools. And it seems that I’m not the only one who is that meaning. I telegram group it’s also been criticized

Hi all.
Sorry if my question seems stupid but how can I be aware when a new smartphone will be added in the supported devices list ?
For now, I see that some Samsung are.
I have received a new “from the box” Fairphone 3 yesterday. Never switched on yet
I am not a developper and in place of using command lines to install /e/OS on it, I feel more secure to use the easy-installer :stuck_out_tongue:
I have installed the snap on my kubuntu 20.04. It starts great.
Updates will be automatic when new devices will be available to install with easy-installer ?

Your work is great ! Thanks a lot for all you do about /e/ :hugs:

The source code is available. So users who want to can still build it from source if they so want.

People who can build it don’t need an easy installer. Can you create another thread about adding devices, this topic is not about adding devices anymore.

I started one here /e/ OS “easy” installer: development thread about adding new devices where I want to add the FP3.

My thoughts as well. @Manoj Build package and share it with others. And stay on topic.

@harvey186

I have an always on VPN (mullvad) via Romania. It works fine, Romania is highlighted in the Easy Installer snap map now. My real location isn’t highlighted up on the map.

I’m aware this is a rather old topic, but now that the Murena FP4 is approaching and I’ve already seen people in the Fairphone forum talking about/asking for FP4 support in the easy installer: is it still the case that some volunteer(s) from the community need to add the FP4 support or will it be provided by the /e/ team? And if it’s a task for the community: would a person to work on this need to wait for the image files to be publicly available or could they get some kind of preview/beta version to have the easy installer updated as early as possible?

Checking on this. Will update.

Ok, the second part is answered by the fact that the image files have been released by now

Are there any news if “easy” installer will be supported for the FP4?

Unfortunately, this will take more time now as the developer is working on some other tasks.
In case there are users with developer skills who want to take up upgrading the EasyInstaller for FP4 support, please let the community know.

I think support might be possible but some concerns can be found here: /e/ OS “easy” installer: development thread about adding new devices - #77 by ff2u
