Looks like Google is adding a lot of modifications to the “Play integrity api” since Q3 of 2024.
The objective is to kill custom roms which are an open competitor for the android/iOS oligopoly (which shoudn’t be existing in a real capitalistic system).
The problem is : many apps are going to stop working without “Play integrity”.
@Manoj : is e/OS/ working on a solution or is microG or LineageOS or nobody ?
We’re defendant on MicroG alone to provide play services. As long as they don’t do something to confound MicroG, we’ll be good. Of course no one can say if Google will or will not do something like that in the future. Google is not a fair company and they could easily force everyone into their ecosystem if they decide to do that. I’m actually surprised it hasn’t happened already. The trend is definitely obvious.
