/e/OS installation failed on FP 4

Dear Community,

From a HP AllinOne 24 running Linux Mint v22 using ungoogled chromium, I tried to install /e/OS. The installation got pretty far the downloading and unpacking of /e/OS.
Then and error pops up in the web screen: ‘cannot execute command connect adb’.

The Fairphone 4 moves into th boatloader modus and the sart screen shows up.
The last line is in red, stating ‘DEVICE STATE - Locked’.

This is where the show stops.
Can anyone please be of advice?
Thank you in advance on this.

Best regards, Marco

Regain your privacy! Adopt /e/OS the deGoogled mobile OS and online servicesphone

eosinstaller does not work for all. There is no documented way to collect a log but, untested by me, was suggested

Please also check the CLI install page Install /e/OS on a Fairphone FP4 - “FP4”.

The manual install method includes this in Requirements

Check that adb and fastboot are enabled on your PC. If not you can find the setup instructions here

  • Note the above requirement is not noted for the eos-installer (as platform-tools are provided in the ROM), but other similar installers do link the following idea.

The correct method to have platform-tools working nicely on Mint may be involved in your problem, idk cryptic clue.

Many have found it easier to follow CLI install method than troubleshoot the Web Installer.

Thank you for your support.
Looks like an ‘installation adventure’
In the next few weeks I will free up time and give it a go.
Will keep you posted on the outcome!
