/e/OS-U on a new Google Pixel 7a with Android 14

Hi, I just bought a new Google Pixel 7a with the intention of installing /e/OS, but the device comes with the latest Android 14.

  • the latest official /e/OS is Android T(13) e-1.20-t-20240222382228-dev-lynx https://images.ecloud.global/dev/lynx/

  • The installation documentation for https://doc.e.foundation/devices/lynx/install says:

    It is important that you know that downgrading Smartphones on OS versions greater than the /e/OS OS version you plan to install, can cause instability or at worst brick some devices. We recommend that you check your current OS version, before attempting the installation.

  • I can’t manage to find the information about /e/OS-U release.

  • I saw : https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/lynx/

    Current version : 21 (Android 14)

Do you think it is a question of days or weeks or months ?

According to last 3 years experience, I bet for September…

On Gogol Pixel phone it is easy to install android 13,

Hi there!

I didn’t want to open another thread, so I post here.

My plan is to get a Pixel 7 or 7a and have /e installed. My main reason to switch is the good camera, and my question is whether or not I will be able to enjoy the full functionality of the phone’s camera when operating on /e.

My Redmi Note 8T can only utilise 12 MP out of the installed 48MP, even running on GCam.

Any input is highly appreciated!

Probably due to “pixel binning” which can be better explained by others because I don’t fully understand it! So see here for starters:

I got a Pixel 7a with /e/ :smiley:
the resolution is 16MP.
I think it works well as expected !
I don’t know how to test more ?

Thank you so far. I had forgotten about binning.
@Chamblard - that sounds good. Did you have to revert to Android 13 to get /e on your phone?
As for the pic quality - if the pics are as good as what you can see in the www, it obviously worked.

I downgrade from 14 to 13 because it is recommended. I didn’t try directly with 14 because it’s not recommended.
