I have a oneplus 7 running on android 14 e/os 3.6a14 and a oneplus 7pro running on Android 13 and e/os 3.04 from july 2025 which receives no further updates. Something seems wrong or is this correct?
Both phones from a13 upwards have the vendor partition included in the ROM so there is no need to go back to stock ROM. You should do a useful backup before. Then you should be able to upgrade like an install but without Formst data.
Strange thing is the oneplus 7 offered the upgrades automatically from within the settings menu why not in the pro? Altough it stayed on android 14. Is there any need to upgrade to 16 when it is on 14 but 3.6 already?
On the 7 pro I have the community built 3.0.4-t-20250710507811-community-guacamole
Should I flash step by step starting with 14 going up to 16 or can I go straight to 16? Just need main file not the recovery I suppose?
No you are right. It stayed within the same android version on the oneplus 7. Thanks a lot for the link. Clean install is a days work for me. Don’t have the nerve for that at to moment. Maybe just stick with these versions. As long as the phones work ;-).
Guess your suggestion going one step up is safest. You wrote “hotdog” before but isn’t it guacamole and guacmoleb for the Oneplus 7?
Update. You were right. I discovered I installed wrong version on my oneplus 7 pro because it is a Gm 1911 . I should have installed hotdog. I installed guacamole instead. It is a miracle it worked before. Guess clean install is the best option now.
I also have an OP7 Pro on A13 /e/OS 3.0.4. The last time I upgraded to Android 14, I had problems because the screen stayed black and I couldn’t use the phone, even though it was still powered on. I had to do a hard reset, and I’ve seen similar reports in several places.
Has this been fixed now? I’d like to jump to A16 without losing my data — is that possible?
I don’t know maybe @aibd knows. Sounds like I´d rather avoid the stress of messing up the phone. If you find out something new keep me posted if you will.
If you don’t hear from me the coming week you may assume everything went well. I did not loose any data. Went smooth using and usb stick with the file connected directly to the phone. Done in 10 minutes.
