/e/OS updates recovery even if "update recovery" is toggled off

Hello!

After updating /e/OS on both my Samsung Galaxy S9 and another Samsung Galaxy S7, I noticed that my previous recovery (TWRP) had been replace with /e/OS recovery, even though “update recovery” is toggled off in the developers options.

This is an issue because:

  1. The installer does NOT respect the settings
  2. For those who root their phones with Magisk, TWRP is needed to reinstall Magisk after each system update

I’ve created an issue here, but I’m not sure if it’s the best place for it: https://gitlab.e.foundation/e/devices/android_device_samsung_starlte/-/issues/4

You would certainly expect the Developer options toggle to work, it does for me on Samsung A3 (2016) on Android Q.

Just a thought … if you check the Updater app > Preferences, does the option to overwrite Recovery appear here as well ? (For me it does not.)

Same here, there’s no option to update (or not) the recovery in the updater preferences on the S9 and S7.

(It exists on other devices though)

Well, I wonder, as the important issue has received no attention.

I suggest you open a new issue against backlog https://gitlab.e.foundation/e/backlog/-/issues. You could always point as a duplicate to your 9 month old report.
