Hi all, I’m new here. I want to buy the Fairphone 6+ with /e/OS preinstalled. I can buy from Murena or Fairphone.

My question: which version of /e/OS comes pre-installed on this device? Is it a v4.X version based on Android 16, or a v3.X based on Android 15?
The Murena website says the latter. The Fairphone website says the former.
Any help is much appreciated, also if I (as newbie) have perhaps posted in the wrong place here.

Independent of your specific question, I recommend you check the warranty terms of both shops. Fairphone’s and Murena’s terms differ significantly when it comes to the question of the fate of your warranty should you need/want to switch to the standard Android OS (the standard googled OS Fairphone ships most devices with).
8.2 Custom OS & Bootloader Policy. Unlocking the bootloader or installing third-party alternative operating systems (e.g., custom open-source ROMs) does not automatically void Your hardware Warranty. Hardware claims remain valid unless technical diagnostics confirm that the hardware defect or failure was directly caused by custom software, unauthorized firmware flashing, or software-induced hardware stress.
8.3 Mandatory OS Reversion for Diagnostics. If Your Product is running a Third-Party Operating System, You must revert to official Fairphone OS prior to submitting an In-Warranty claim. Because diagnostic tools require standard software, Fairphone reserves the right to re-flash devices to official Fairphone OS upon receipt at the Service Center. Hardware or software recovery claims resulting from modified partitions that prevent restoring official Fairphone OS are strictly excluded.
@Manoj I have long wanted to contact you about the apparent discrepancy between Murena’s and Fairphone’s warranty terms regarding changing the OS. Does a Murena Fairphone (i.e. bought from murena.com) really fall completely out of warranty when switched to Android OS (or another operating system), including out of hardware warranty with the manufacturer (Fairphone)? Or is it only Murena software support (i.e. troubleshooting by Murena customer service) that ends in that case? So far the differences between Murena terms (quoted by @jjjrrr above) and Fairphone terms (here in my reply) sound big (much stricter at Murena, much more permissive at Fairphone).
