E-wallet alternative from Murena

From my lack of knowledge about this issue, do Murena has the ability to produce a alternative payment method with e/OS and one personal app ?

I’d like to generate a debate about technical and real/unreal future situations in which we can actually use, with some ‘friendly’ online bank account ( I mean banks whom do not collect meta or massively personal info ), a application into e/OS enviorenmwnt to pay with virtual wallet.

Is this viable? Can Open-Source and De-Google industry seek for a “third way”?

Kind regards

Curve pay has a score of zero in Exodus, it is not a simple e-wallet service where you can add debit/credit cards and simply use it ( reading the services provided by the British company, it does not seem an alternative to me).

With my post I really meant the possibility from Murena to create a e-wallet application, which may be include in the e/OS environment. And of course, without dependencies from Google services

A European project called Unified Attestation, of which Murena is a part, has been launched.

That sounds great! Especially since most things these days can’t be paid with cash

There are really multiple aspects to this: developing a wallet app, the attestation and the commercial side. The last is probably the biggest effort - the wallet provider has to work with (100s of) banks to allow the use of debit/credit cards. It took Google & Apple years to accomplish that and I’d think that their size and brand recognition helped in getting the banks on board.

The only alternatives so far are PayPal (Germany), Globe (Philippines) and a handful of others, usually limited to one or a few countries.

And then there is Curve, which is available across several countries in Europe, allows pretty much any Visa/Mastercard regardless of bank and actually works reliably… One reason that they’ve gotten there is that they are not just “a simple e-wallet service”, but act more like a financial mediator with a card & an app… You can add debit and credit cards and use it for contactless payments, without exposing your actual credit card number… those are some of the key payment functions of a digital wallet you can’t really get any other way on e/os right now… what else are you trying to do with your digital wallet?

@Rupert thanks for your description though. But at the moment I’m interested just into architecture and development, like how can affect a e-wallet without Google credentials as a recognition of secure authority, a better performance of NFC technology ( more secure, less metadata, no pop-up an go), some extras like options to create disposable number cards associated to the main…

I know Curve, PayPal and such provide some of this things, but still, I would rather prefer an application which is aimed to JUST PAY and not the rest of things we already know

Furthermore, As I said, Curve has a score of zero in Exodus ratings and its not an ‘european’ company ( whatever means that for the british)
