Emails regularly stay stuck in the Outbox. What could the problem be? Very annoying. Usually these are messages that I forward.
Have you ever been successful sending?
Could be a problem with the smtp protocol, either client or server side.
Yes ,still 3 emails in the outbox
My question was: has something ever left the outbox successfully???
When I have an item not sending in the Outbox, usually it goes by pull down from the top of an Inbox page. This shows a little “timer wheel” indicating some sort of sync action.
Yes, sometimes they do leave the out box.
Now: retries exceeded
And do your stuck emails have any common property?
- the same receiver,
- the same domain in the receiver,
- no receiver at all in the To field (but in CC or BCC),
- a different sender address than typically used,
- an alias email address in the From field,
- very large attachments?
- Is Microsoft 365 involved?
- Do you send to a Gmail address using an address based on a custom domain as sender?
What else could I guess?
Some SMTP servers have special requirements to avoid sending spam:
- Often the sender’s email address in the From field must have the same domain as the email address used for authentication on the server.
- Also sometimes the number of receivers is limited.
- And the number of sends in a given time. Once I had two emails per minute.
- I also had once an SMTP server which allowed sending only to addresses in it’s own domain (very clever, receiving from outside was fine but answering was impossible …)
Also interesting:
- We talk about the stock email app, Mail, do we?
- And do you use your /e/ address or another one?
Some informations would be good.
Happens here on Shift phone all the time.before, I used e/OS on a Samsung Galaxy S 9 and it was the same, with difderent email domains. I changed to K9 Email App.
Yes I use stock mail app.
I use. ….@e.email
….. @murena.io. is the same I think?
Right Now it works again….I’ll come back if an email gets stuck again
Another problem: I receive an email from someone at …@murena.io and want to forward it to my brother …@gmail.com, it stays stuck in the outbox
The problem is that one of the two mail addresses (xxx@e.email and xxx@murena.io) is an alias of the other one. In my case xxx@e.email is the original and xxx@murena.io is an alias of it. Currently the use of aliases seems to have a bug. When you use the alias in the From field sending fails, receiving works, so others can successfully send to your alias address. This is a known problem on the mail server. What you can do as a user is: avoid using the alias.
Its the same situation with me. Has a bug report already been created for this?
…@murena.io was the standard
…@e.email was the alias
I removed the murena, I will see
