Extremely slow battery charging after e/OS updates

OnePlus Nord, purchased new from Murena ~3 yrs ago. I started seeing this issue several months ago, and I should have posted about it long before now.

3 or 4 e/OS versions ago, immediately after an OS upgrade, recharging became extremely slow (30-90 minutes for each 1% of charge – recharge 3-15% overnight).

The first time this happened, I didn’t even connect the issue with the OS upgrade … for a couple of nights in a row, I just thought I hadn’t plugged it in properly, and it quit charging sometime in the night. Eventually, I realized it was just recharging very slowly … but by then, it was down to 15-20% and it took 4+ days (24 hours a day) to fully recharge the phone.

However … after one full recharge and then power cycling the phone, the issue disappeared, and normal recharge speed returned.

The next OS upgrade, same thing happened – this time, I connected the dots. Same solution, too – fully recharging the phone (3+ days), then power cycling it solved the issue.

Last OS upgrade, however (to 3.0), the issue has not gone away. I am now stuck with a phone that I can only recharge, at best, 20% overnight (if I shut off every non-essential app in the phone and turn off the display).

Oh yeah … trying to charge the phone while it is turned off does not work, at all.

I just now upgraded to the latest 3.1.1 version of e/OS, and the issue remains. I even tried the “slow-charge back to full, then reboot” trick, and that has not resolved it, either.

Any suggestions? As usual, thanks in advance.

A gentle bump.

This is still an issue for me. Cannot be 100% certain it is directly caused by /e/OS, but OS version updates seem to have triggered it 3 times in a row.

Any suggestions welcome. Otherwise, I’m considering radical ideas, like reflashing, replacing with a different OS, buying a new phone, etc.

Does anyone know if replacing the battery is at all feasible in a OnePlus Nord?

My Sony xz2c had slow charging from some point, was in Japanjat that time and found a shop which could replace the battery. But charging kept the same.

Can you connect the device to the PC? The Sony was not able anymore, hence the battery swap was useless.

Define “connect”? I can plug it into a PC/laptop to charge it (same slow charge rate), but I haven’t tried, eg, an ADB connection… is that what you mean?

Yes, can you acces the files of the smartphone? Or does the USB thetering work?
