My first attempt at building /e/OS from source just failed with the following message:
Failed build for a5y17lte
I’m a long-time Linux user and I built software from source since Slackware 7.1, but I’m new to building an OS for my phone. So I wonder where to look next.
My PC is an HP Z440 workstation with no less than a 36-core processor, 40 GB RAM and 2 TB NVMe disk. I vaguely wonder if too much parallelization could possibly harm the build, but I don’t know where to configure this here.
Apparently the build described in the /e/OS documentation does require root rights. In my first attempt I tried to build things as a normal user, but it looks like somewhere root rights are required.
If you can provide some details about why that is so, I’d be curious.
mine, from 2011, have i5(2500) 4-core 3.3Ghz, 16GbRAM(1333Mhz), and sata3Gb/s (2To 6Gb/s), cost me 30€ and build in 5h00 for the first shot and 1h30 for the second shot…
.
so please what version did you build ?
now that you builded for a5y17lte, your build for a7y17lte will take 25% of time to build compared to the first one…
