Fairphone 4 - switch from android to e/os

Dear all

I’m deGooglizing and my next step is to leave my current android system and go to e/os. So happy about this journey !

I have read the documentation and tuto (see link here), but I must admit that I’m super stressed about this anti rollback feature that could freeze my devise.

I have a Fairphone 4, it’s under android 13 and the last security patch update was november 2025.

If my understanding is correct, the /e/OS build available should be > november 2025 to allow to go to e/os. Crystal clear.

Looking at the e/OS/ build downloads, and at the last release, I’m confused and not sure anymore, if I can run /e/os/ on my F4 android 13. Should I consider the release 3.4.a15 (is the a15 refering to android 15) or to another release? Is the build that I have to consider the IMG-e-2.5-t-20241108446629-official-FP4.zip [MD5 | SHA256]?

Many thanks for reading me and trying to figure out !

Negative.

Rather than tell you exactly what to do as you mostly understood … the /e/OS ROM is perfectly capable of changing Android version. There is no need to be constrained by your current Android 13. You can use Android 14.

Today we are just at the start of the 3.4 release, so you must double check the Android SPL of your download (edit, the check is as the next paragraph) as I currently see an error where the newest Android SPL is anticipating 3.4, not actually available.

In error today

Reliable source: Releases · e / os / 🚀 Releases · GitLab

This /e/OS 3.3 version includes all Android security patches available as of December, 1st.

So OK on top of your November.

Another subject Android 15 would involve further research about Different Build Types as a15 is published as a community build, which (due to recent changes in documentation) is now hidden. We can easily link you to this if you say that community is what you want.
