[Fairphone 5] Displaying content while phone is locked (most importantly - time)

Is there a way to have the time always show even when the screen is locked? Is it possible to show other stuff as well?

The most important for me is the time, so that I dont need to press the button to wake the screen just to see the time (also will prevent blindness when checking the time from one of those really good naps).

In addition to the time but less important is to be able to show some media controls, like spotify so I can more easily control my music e.g. when driving.

Is there a way to do this on the Fairphone 5?

I don’t have Fairphone, but some see the displayed content on the locked screen as a privacy infringement.

Please try the Search function within Settings to look for “lock”, " lock screen" … anything you can think of …

… but I do see time, date, and “allowed notifications” on my locked screen.

I think I could have been more clear in my OP. I dont mean on the lock screen, i mean when the screen is black e.g. after several minutes of no activity when even the lock screen doesnt show.

Generally the “Lock screen” can be seen after you touch the Power button … but what induced the Lock screen, usually the Display times out.

So are you suggesting that you would like to see the time … at all times?

No display time out? The upper limit is 30 minutes, or there is Caffeine.

Screen “always on” {isplaystyle nfty } will consume some battery I would think.

Yes, I think what I am looking for is something like “always on” but in a reduced to state to conserve as much power as possible. Here is a pic I just took of my oneplus 8 pro which has this enabled. Note that it isnt always showing that. After a little time it does go completely black, but if i move the phone even a bit this “view” shows up again.

The screen is one of the bigger sources of battery drain. Also the SOC (CPU) will not go into deep sleep when the screen is on, also a big drain.

Don’t know if it’s even possible to keep the clock displayed full time, but the battery would drain fast. The rate wouldn’t be that much less than when you are actually using the phone. You’d get around a half day (12hr) which would be a big issue for most people. Aside from the inconvenience of recharging more frequently, it would put higher than typical wear on the battery.

Ok then, I suppose there isn’t the option of doing this then. Thanks

I dont know if you can display the media player on the lockscreen (I know I can with stock Android), but the clock shouldn’t be an issue. My Motorola (which is still stock) has lots of wake options including moving the phone and sensing proximity. Not sure about the FP5 and /e/os but at the least you could simply wake with a double tap or button push. It’s an extra step, but these days with all products it seems you have to live with extra steps in getting them to do what you want.
