Fairphone 5 front camera lacking

My girlfriend transfered from iOS to the Fairphone 5. We wanted a degoogled phone which still has a good camera. I found online that the Fairphone 5 retains its stock camera app (which has good post-processing) when installed on /e/OS.

However, we found that the front (selfie) camera quality is lacking compared to the back camera. Depending on the light, it is either grim or too white with the front camera. I’ve posted the pictures below. Sadly I can only upload one, so I cannot give you a comparison, but the back camera has better lightning.

Is there any reason why the front camera of the Fairphone camera app is not similarly processed as the back camera? Currently on Android 13 version 2.9

I’m not a FP5 owner so can’t contribute, but you should go through the existing fp5 tagged posts that have either itself a camera tag or mention “front camera” or just “camera”.

The fairphone forum has a bigger pool of owners, at best /e/OS too - for experience / comparison, though I think you already checked there
