I’m having this weird issue where the phone is very slow, laggy and unresponsive except if I open the camera app first. This goes for ever screen lock, and I tried rebooting.
When it was first installed, I wondered why everything was so laggy and slow on this smooth 90hz screen. It was only by chance that I learned that opening the camera made it buttery smooth, like if the phone became 10 years younger.
I did a command line install via Fedora Linux. Hopefully this can be resolved.
Thanks for this awesome project btw, I plan on donating soon
Is it A13 oder A14?
If you don’t find a proper solution, it would help the /e/OS team if you would open an issue at Gitlab, so that they can test and work on a fix.
The trick with starting the Camera first after reboot is helping, so it seems. I have used SD Maid SE, too - perhaps the combination will better the situation.
BTW. I’m also on 2.8 / A14 with FP5 and I don’t have a issue with lock screen and slow UI. It’s maybe an issue with an app that you’ve installed. I don’t have many apps installed. Unfortunately I don’t have any ideas how to fix this, except that you uninstall apps that you suspect causing this issue. Apps which have to do with video or camera. I know that sounds vague, but I don’t know more. Maybe someone else has an idea.
I have been having the same issue with my FP4 since at least 2.6 (I think). Apps are often lagging on some heavy duty tasks giving time for android to warn me that the app has hanged and giving me no choice but to kill it even though it works perfectly fine… Sometimes the phone hanged so much that it ended up rebooting.
Starting the Fairphone camera app on boot helped a lot yesterday and I had no hangs, phone was super smooth.
I don’t know if it has any connection, but I have turned the Fairphone camera app on in the settings… Its the one I started first on boot.
