just for context of the title: this is ofc only on non-wifi mobile networks
there’s a few mentions of it (this also? unsure), a gitlab issue and if you follow the links, a suggestion by user Cabnedor to limit to 4G and choose 5G in preferred then: Problems with using 5G/4G/3G in foreing countries - #10 by M.Witte - but seems you already follow this advice
I’ve got the same issue now since 1-2 weeks, with my FP5 /e/OS 3.0.4 A14.
The mobile network connection (5G) doesn’t reconnect regularly , about once per day. Switching it on and off doesn’t help. I have to reboot the phone and then it works again. Since yesterday, also WLAN is affected.
I’ve heavily used the phone as a WLAN hotspot lately. Not sure if there is a connection.
Update: I’ve found out that my VPN connection was blocking everything at some point. Disabling the VPN brought back my internet.
I have a similar problem: I have a SIM card and an eSIM, and since the last update, my physical SIM card literally disappears. It vanishes. I have to restart my smartphone.
This can happen twice a day, or once every three days. I am in 3.0.4 A13.
For me the problem stopped, but unfortunately I don’t remember what I changed in the configs, sorry I was so desperate I tried everything. But I’m quite sure that some change in the configs did solve the problem.
(not a very helpful comment for those still struggling I’m afraid)
Hi everyone, I’m experiencing the same issue since awhile (FP4 /e/OS 3.1.1-A14).
I had the same connection problems on mobile data, also on the previous build, they’re just getting worse.
I tried several things without luck:
Resetting APN values
Setting 4G as preferred connection
Disabling automatic selection of the network
Perhaps other things I don’t recall, this issue is affecting my phone since mid August
Sometimes enabling and then disabling airplane mode works, sometimes I have to reboot the phone.
It happens several times a day.
I really don’t know how to give more diagnostic data, but I would be very glad to help sorting it out…
By the way, things which seem to be in common with people facing similar issues on the forum are:
I have both a physical card and an eSim
I went abroad last month (installing a local esim, now uninstalled)
I used heavily my phone as a Wifi hotspot in the last months
I’m using a VPN: a wireguard connection and a zerotier connection (the latter never used in the last months)
Hi not, since you have a different version of Android and /e/OS, I’d suggest you open a seperate topic for your problem.
As I wrote above, Wireguard VPN was the culprit in my case. Next time you have problems, check your VPN and disable WG VPN (in the case it’s enabled).
it seems then several users have this problem , my Fairphone FP5 looses the connection with the SIM Card The error message was something like “no SIM card installed.” This error now unfortunately occurs more frequently. I have to turn off the smartphone, readjust the SIM card, and restart the smartphone.
