Fairphone 5 with e/os/ 3.0.1-t-20250606498724-official-FP5

Dear valued and appreciated e/os/ community.
First of all I want to say thank you to all the contributors here.

I am promoting the FP5 with e/os/ in my environment (family and friends) with success.

I was asking myself what are the pre-requisites to lock the bootloader after the installtion of e/os/

I checked if i can lock the bootloader but i got the get_unlock_ability: 0

.\fastboot flashing get_unlock_ability
(bootloader) get_unlock_ability: 0

is there an other way to lock the bootloader without brick the phone?

Looking forward for all your inputs.

Br,
Alessandro

The function of this command and how it works within the device is described on this page of Source . Android Lock and unlock the bootloader.

Is this question a follow on from FP5 stucks in boatloader mode - #3 by aibd and is it the same phone? and has it remained unlocked since?

If yes the real hazard of locking is described (answered) Install /e/ on FP5 with newer Security Patches - #13 by aibd.

Hello aibd

Thanks a lot for sharing me the documentation of “Lock and unlock the bootloader”.

I was just wondering, if i will lock the bootloader now, if it will reset my phone.
It wouldn’t be that grave, would only need 1-2 hours to setup everything again on the phone.

It is unlocked since the beginning… I wasn’t that aware about it as i had the OEM unlocking not enabled - though this would lock the bootloader…

So locking the phone will delete all data, is this also like this with the newest build of /e/os?

:white_check_mark: Correct.

The phone will come back with the “First start wizard” as if it was a fresh install.

Nothing has changed about the lock and unlock with recent builds.
