Fairphone 6 bluetooth while calling. No ringer and cant change sound source

Hi. I got very weird issues whit the /e/OS Fairphone 6. Whit smartwatch and whit my car.

Whit the car. I can receive and make calls. The icon for sound source while talking shows that I am connected to the vehicle but no sound is going through the car speakers, just through the phone speaker. The other person hears me great but, I barley hear them since I use a phone holder. I can’t change it to loudspeaker or speaker, its stuck in the car mode.

Whit the smartwatch. When i receive a call the phone ringer is silent.

Are there any tips to fix it or I need to wait for an update?

Yes, indeed, this is a very annoying issue, which is known. It affects mostly “older cars units” and works sometimes well on some brand new cars. There are already a few treads, the major one is:

An issue is also opened in Gitlab:

By now, I can’t see any activity though… So feel free to comment the issue and describe what is your car model / year to help the developers.

I know this is a quite big deal, especially if you’re dealing with a “driving work”. Personally I have to use a second device for my voice calls in car and swap my Sim card every night when I come back home…

I really hope that the devs will eventually priorise this issue soon…

Thank You @stanwood for the Gitlab link. I’ll comment there. Also is there any way to route the bluetooth signal aka Phone → external device → car, so the phone and the car wont be able to connect to each other and mitigate the issue by that? I’m aware of bluetooth transmitters but the sound quality they produce is awful.

Indeed. And thanks for having commenting the issue.

Well, unfortunately I did not find anyway to “manually” redirect the sound to the car unit. I guess that the problem could persist if you use an external Bluetooth device as it should work the same way as a BT car system (maybe something to try though).

I just pray for a dev to handle this… Or will a new vendor firmware be pushed by Fairphone on the next 3.2 OTA update?
