Fairphone Gen 6 (FP6) camera zoom broken

I’ve installed /e/OS on my FP6 (easy!) And checking if everything works as expected. First problem that I found was that the camera app (also Open Camera) is not able to use the 2x zoom.

Does anyone have a better app being able to use the zoom function?

Same here.
Bought the murena fp6, camera zoom is also not working

Since zoom wasn’t working for the stock camera app in e/os, I tried a couple of GCam builds, and while the camera works, can confirm the zoom is not working there either.

I see the stock FPCam is supported for older models, would be nice to get a mention in the documentation if there are plans to do the same or not with the FP6.

Same here, no zoom in the default app but also with other camera apps installed with F-Droid

Same problem with my FP6 + /e/os/, no camera zoom with the default app, nor with other photo apps.

There is no 60fps video recording on FP6 with e/os either.

Same here. Just bought the FP 6. Very disappointed to find I can’t zoom. Even though the tools are there, they do not work in any combination of camera that I have tried. It is a pretty basic requirement of a smartphone camera these days.

The fact that the zoom doesn’t work does make me worry about the other phone features.

Also concerned about the reports that other cameras apps apparently don’t have a functional zoom when installed. I may have to return the phone which is a bore.

Must be a first adopter problem, report it on gitlab else nothing will happen. This is a community forum, users help users usually nothing from here is being transfered to dev. Only on the version feedback they might pick something up.

@Vicc If you don’t need to use it right now, keep it a bit more. If you don’t have patience send it back, it is difficult to say how quick they will fix it. This is not a huge software company, it is a small team trying to give us privacy from big tech.
