Fast battery drain Samsung note 10+

Maybe i missed something. But my battery drains more quickly on my Samsung note 10+ with /e/OS than with stock with the same number of installed applications and the the same intensity of use.

I noticed the same behaviour in the past on another Samsung with Lineageos.

Did I miss something? Is there anything I can do to be able to use my phone at least 10 hours without charging ?

You just updated to 3.6, did you?

Yes, it’s up to date. But battery is still draining very fast

Hello, I’m using the same and didn’t noticed. Is there anything I can check to compare to yours and see if we got the same issue?

Hi @blackbeard welcome to the /e/ users forum

Splendid offer. I suggest a first measure is to go to Settings > Battery > Battery usage.

This comment may depend on your device and charging cycle: select a relevant part of “recorded time”

Battery usage can be

  • Viewed by apps – where usage is expected very close to your imagined use.
  • Viewed by systems – where usage is expected to mirror the above.

From the systems view I find it quite unusual to have system apps using more than 1% without good reason. One could compare screenshots which might validate or contradict this comment.

So maybe my battery is just tired. Or I have more apps or use my phone more often than you.

I’m using neo launcher. Sometimes I find it consumed 10% of the battery. But it’s not the only app. Jami behaves worse. I uninstalled it.

Ali express made 18% 3 days ago before I unistall it.

I restricted the background running of almost all my apps. But no improvement

I tell it also this time, like everytime an update has been rolled out: clear your caches, each cache of each damned app and system service.

Use the app CacheCleaner (from F-Droid) for that to get indeed all apps at once.

Typically cleaning the caches helps a lot, especially when battery drain comes suddenly while the app has always been OK.

If you don’t do this some apps run with battery drain until the caches are refreshed and the things normalize after some days by themselves.

Just a word … Systems → CPU is higher than Screen. Not a problem but may say something about the use of your phone. Comparison with App usage might show you using high CPU demand apps, thus this 40% might mirror usage and / or the phone has an efficient screen.

Where I said system apps are not usually high … I really meant software (say like e-Drive or Mobile network) rather than hardware. The hardware will naturally use power, but battery drain will quite likely be due to software “waste of power”.

I wanted to upload my screenshot but it didn’t work. CPU 52%, screen 30%.

Yes but CPU is too high for me. 52% !!!

Agreed high, 40% is also higher than I remember. So compare with apps in use … one of the top items in View by apps is likely responsible.

It is this comparison between the two views which helps to pinpoint the cause of drain.

Also perhaps look out for Mobile Network usage.

OK thank you. And what should I do if I find the guilty software?
