Let me start by saying I think the present offering (as of Feb 2026) is really good, and the pricing is fair given it’s EU hosted, green power for the servers, etc.
I’m fairly new to /e/, but enjoying it immensely. I was using grapheneOS (until google destroyed the battery life of my pixel6a) and running a private nextcloud instance to do contacts/calendars/files/etc. Now I’ve started looking into how I move all of this to Murena workspace/cloud and I’m looking forward to not worrying about our families critical organisation tools being dependent on a cheap SSD sitting on some dusty chip board under my house.
One of the benefits of running your own server though, is that you can pick and choose what you want. Nextcloud has a lot of apps available (https://apps.nextcloud.com/) and everytime I’ve wondered if I could do something there was a solution available.
One thing I will really miss, and wish I could have with Murena cloud is the cookbook app (Cookbook - Apps - App Store - Nextcloud) It’s straightforward, easy, and focuses on doing one thing well. Commercial recipe apps are (in my experience at least) terrible. They’re not cheap, they let looks get in the way of me actually knowing the ingredients and steps, and they undergo enshitification.
So, what would you wish for in murena cloud?
