Feedback for v2.6.3

Official build upgrades are meant to be provided OTA, which makes the task more ambitious and takes more time (I presume).

Google Pixel 5 Redfin

Pixel5 (purchased in /e/-shop) not rooted.
It was upgraded with 2.6.3-t stable release (updated from 2.5 to 2.6.3 (2.4-t-20241217455358-official-redfin) with e_redfin-user 13 TQ3A.230901.001 eng.root.20241217.030510).

the upgrade from 2.5 to 2.6.3 took only 45 mn with 1 reboot.
All app are working fine but no WiFi till 2 more reboots and a ā€œtriturationā€ of the Advanced Privacy tool.
The 3 buttons bar do not work correctly : central button (circle) is inoperant (cannot do anything with it). right button (square) sometimes do not respond and I need to use the left one (triangle) to go back to the apps page.

The camera issue blur (described here ) is still here.

It seems to be a not useful version.

Hi!
First time here, and I’m sorry but I’m a bit tech challenged. Lmk if I did this wrong.

I have a FP4/Fairphone 4 through Murena. I cannot get the v2.6.3 to show up on my updater. I tried troubleshooting the updater, but no luck.

This has happened before. I was stuck at v1.21 since May, and only last week I used Easy Installer to update to v2.5. However, since it wiped my phone, I don’t want to have to do that again :frowning:

Consider yourself lucky. The 2.6.3 update caused a major issue with eSIMs on the Fairphone 4, so it has been withdrawn for the time being (see /e/OS stable FP4 download).

I have faced issues when trying to use a VPN. Regardless if mobile network or wifi is used. Advanced Privacy by eOS is working though.
Selecting VPN connection via control panel (slide down from top) lead to a crash of the the system and the lock screen will be displayed when a VPN has been selected.

When trying to connect to VPN browsing through settings the system does not crash but unfortunately it does not connect either. It just says ā€œtrying to connectā€ but nothing happens.
VPN configuration worked fine on 2.5-u. After the upgrade on 2.6-t no connection can be established.

Same problem with Bliss on a Pixel 6 Pro, not-rooted, developer mode. Blank launch screen and many touch operations not working. My screen settings were at the defaults, so I did not think the problem was related to font or icon sizes. But I decided to try them anyway.
So I set them both to maximum, and lo&behold, the launcher was back but unusably large.
I then set them back to the defaults, and Bliss was still working. Everything is back to normal. If only all problems could be that easy to fix.
Thanks for the tip, Someone69.

I just got a OTA update 2.6.4-t-20250104459146-community-FP5
Do I need to provide a feedback?
Over all it works okay.
Phone isn’t rooted.

Why I can’t see a release notes? https://gitlab.e.foundation/e/os/releases/-/releases/v2.6.4-t

Are you on the beta channel?

How could i check it?

I’m using community build.

The build is indeed listed by the OTA server.

It looks like 2.6.4 is a T-exclusive, see /e/OS community FP3 download | /e/OS community FP4 download | /e/OS community FP5 download (you need to click at ā€œAndroid T(13)ā€ to see it)

Does the recent eSIM issue affect other devices than the Fairphone 4 and has it (the issue) been T-exclusive, too?

Is the 2.6.4-t security patch date more recent than the one from 2.6.3-u ? and so allow a downgrade ?

(using a translator)
I also received the update on my Redmi 9 (lancelot). I am using the community version. But the security patch is the same as the 2.6.3 version and the microG version the same. Waiting for the official changelog

We are putting out a v2.6.4 build specifically for devices which had a U build coming in v2.6.3
2.6.4 is a T or A13 build.
Moving forward we will again support multiple OS builds for devices instead of only one OS per device.

Is this also just a temporary period like it used to be the other times with new major releases?

I mean will at some point only be one release for a device?

No we will keep the multiple release per device mode from now on.
