Feedback for v2.8

I did an upgrade from 2.7t to 2.8t and so far it basically works as expected on my Samsung Galaxy S10+.

However, it seems that the battery consumption is higher than in the previous version since I have quite a large loss after a few hours.

It would be great to have an app which would show the corresponding sources of energy consumption in more detail.

I’ve seen the announcement of /e/OS 2.8 on mastodon, but it’s not possible to upgrade it automatically through System updates. Then I checked the place where the builds usually are and found this e-2.8-a14-20250224470211-community-rhode.zip. I guess you guys changed the naming convention from a U to A14, which I think it’s better, but it prevents the System updates to recognize it as a valid update.

Is it safe to install this new build using adb sideload?

Try deleting cache of all apps, helps sometimes when batter drain is high after update… apps that do the task for you: cache cleaner (might not work well on newer android version) or SD maid SE

OK, will try this now

Thanks @Cabnedor and @obacht for pointing this out. Have corrected the initial post.

If there are any img files missing in the v2.8 builds please report it in this thread.
I have created an internal issue (accessible to the developers only) listing out such build.
Have added the a52q to the list which was missing the vbmeta.img.

Working great since beginning on this device, this version as well (other than SD888 being power hungry chip, producing heat on intensive task often since before)

Thanks for your work

Upgraded from /e/OS 2.7 to 2.8. No root.
All went smooh. All good.

Vendor Name: Samsung
Device name: Galaxy Note 10
Device d1
Version of /e/OS: v2.7 android 14
Is the device Rooted: no

The situation with the Galaxy Note 10 is the same as with the Galaxy S10e.
@WillemR solution works, thank you

Hi aldonogueira.
If an ota update is possible depends on what current version and device you have.
The update rollout is scheduled till Mar 6. , so may well be that your device will show it in the next couple of days.

  • Vendor Google
  • Device Pixel 6a
  • Device Bluejay
  • Version of /e/OS or Stock which existed previously: v2.7-community
  • The device not rooted

Everything works fine so far.

I’m on a fairphone 5, still no offer of an update to 2.8 from 2.7 t (official).

Any idea when this might be coming online?

Thanks ++

Hi Macstodon
The timeline says Feb.27 til Mar.6.
Fairphones tended to be on the later end in previous releases so i would expect the update showing up around the middle of next week for my FP4.

OTA Update and both devices are OK. Good job e-os development team :+1: :+1:

  • Vendor Name: Murena

The OTA update to 2.8-t-official just came in.
The update process was quick and smooth.
Still no progress on the bug in settings for the mobile network, no selection possible.

Thank’s to the team, never-the-less!

Hm, still no upgrade to Android U / A14

Anyway, thanks for reporting.
