Murena has changed the file naming (apparently starting) from this new version 2.8 – out goes “u”, in comes “a14” (e.g. my own version is now called e-2.8-a14-20250221470208-community-FP3). My own install went fine and even quicker than before (well under 20 mins). I haven’t done any testing beyond booting so far.

Right after the boot, I am getting the information/warning that Advanced Privacy is giving all apps no or a fake location – however, the details of Advanced Privacy then correctly display the apps I have exempted from this. I think the benefits of the warning still outweigh its negligible lack of precision.

Other Fairphoners, feel free to check what’s online for you:

/e/OS community FP3 download or /e/OS official FP3 download
/e/OS community FP4 download or /e/OS official FP4 download
/e/OS community FP5 download or /e/OS official FP5 download

As of right now, 2.8 community is available for FP3, FP4 and FP5, but 2.8 official is not (yet). (UPDATE monday, 3 March 2025, 12 pm Berlin time: official now available for all FP3/FP4/FP5)

Again, OTA update not working, device reboots into recover and then error.

Did also find a solution, accidentally.

When it rebooted into recovery with that error.

I did choose,
Advanced
Enter fastboot
Then back again with,
Enter recovery

After that, the OTA update continued and updated recovery and /e/OS/ to 2.8-u.

So for now everything went fine afterall.

The trick checks out.

But still, the signature for S10e and Tab S6 is invalid. Again.

Update of Tab S5e worked without problems.

No issues so far. Thanks to the team!
I had the same problems on my device as @WillemR described. His suggested solution also helped me installing the OTA.

Do you have an “official /e/OS” version installed?

OTA Update went fine and quick.
After Reboot i got no connection to mobile network (German Telekom). WLAN was ok.
Tried some changes in Network-Config, also an Reset of Internet Connection and
one more reboot. Nothing did it.
Then i found under manual network choice ‘Telekom.de’ twice and choose the other one.
After that i one time switched into airplane mode and back, what did it now!

May be a help for others.

S10e is only community, but yes it was an official /e/OS version.
But for this trick to work you need recovery at least v, 2.4/2.5, that was when this option, to enter fastboot from recovery, appeared in /e/OS/ recovery.

Hats off to the devs!

Both devices: all well, no issues.

official /e/OS builds

Good point …
it is good practice ever since to include what is nowadays called community-builds in these feedback threads as they are “official builds” as well.

With regard to build names official once was called stable and community once was called dev… both have always been “official”…

In contrast to test and unofficial and custom builds.

@Manoj please confirm or correct and maybe change the default text for the initial feedback-post accordingly as it is misleading … given the new convention for the build names, thanks!

everything works pretty well, as usual
2 little problems I’ve had for a while:

  • App lounge that won’t install apps or update them (message retry after download. note that I’ve cleared the cache several times)
  • Notes app that won’t connect to the Murena account even though it’s back in the cloud

Thank for all

Hey,
the notes app isnt working yet because the murena team blocked all external requests from apps like nextcloud, notes, etc. Thats why it doesnt work yet. Once they will reopen external access, its going to work again
