Feedback for v2.9

looks like the same error.

I just tested various third party mail clients on my PCs, but they are all working normally. So I assume there is no server error but the app breaks the auth. process somewhere.

I found an easy “solution”, you remove 2FA on your account, remove your account on your phone and add it again, email will have the right password but your account will be less secured ^^’

Let’s hope they fix it for the next update ^^’

Isseu 1 : Email APP still keeps on crashing!
K-9 Mail is working fine!

Isseu 2 : Files APP doesn’t keep the set ‘sort by’ function. After closing the APP it selects always the first (top) listed option, and not the last selected option.

Isseu 3 APP Lounge is still not able to install/update APPs and gives always ‘retry’ option. Clear cache & Storage doesn’t resolve issue.
Aurora & F-droid are working fine!

Resolved = Notes APP : sync is working. Is confirmed by the web application :+1:

Thanks sofar!

OTA update. Quick download process, slow package installation, very fast reboot.

Persisting issues:

The location issues might have been solved with BeaconDB :tada:

Thanks to the team, and looking forward to the official OTA updates to Android 15 and 16!

You should be able to switch to Fairphone camera app and get better quality afaik.

No issues

The issue is not with Fairphone camera, but with third party apps, for example OSS Document Scanner

:white_check_mark: Successful manual update via Local Update e-2.9-a14-20250323478432-community-hotdog.zip

Update to /e/OS 2.9 (via Settings/System Update)

  • Nothing
  • CMF Phone 1
  • ’tetris’
  • Upgrade from 2.8-a14-20250224470211-Community-tetris
  • Rooted

Update went smoothly and no issues noticed so far…

The update itself went well, but I am having GPS issues… (That persist since several updates but I haven’t noticed them for a long time)

After a while my GPS stops working and it cannot get a connection with any satellite. (I check with GPSTest). As soon as I restart everything works fine for a little while.
It seems the problem often occurs after being in a location with bad GPS signal (like the lower floors of a tall building).

GPS Test is usually a reliable check. For GPS to actually turn off would be a significant bug (but there have been unusual Fairphone GPS failure forum reports in the past).

Please could you try to install My Location that is com.mirfatif.mylocation. Another test would be to try to confirm with both apps

  • gps disappears in tall building (expected)
  • gps fails to return after 10 minutes under clear sky.
  • Even with a certain amount of movement (say 20 metres walking) of the phone under clear sky, gps appears off to both GPSTest and My Location.
  • The period 10 minutes is arbitrary, but where GPS is “low confidence” it is expected to be unused, but not in my understanding turned off.

If this is the situation I would suggest to Report an issue.

/e/OS show me yesterday an update notification to go to 2.9 , so I did it and click on the button. At the end, asked to reboot and since it doesn’t works.
At boot my phone show me a screen :

<!>
The boot loader is unlocked and software integrity cannot be guaranted. Any data store on the device may be available to attackers. Do not store any sensitive data on the device.

Visiti this link on other device :
http://g.co/ABH

And I can’t boot on bootloader or in recovery mode.

I tried to connect it to my computer (linux), and “ADB DEVICES” find the phone but : “UNAUTHORIZED” )

I don’t find any solution since yesterday. Does somebody have an idea ?

Thanks

I cannot find Fairphone Camera on F-Droid and neither on Aurora store.
Could you give us a reference for that app?

Look for it in the Forum, I would need to do the same. Some weeks resp. months there was an update. It should also be stated in the release notes.

Maybe someone else remembers where it needs to be set. But I would guess in the camera settings somehwere.

@postal8555 Did you try it?

You can set it in Settings > Applications > Fairphone Camera

I just upgraded to version 2.9T with my Pixel 4XL. I can no longer use my Murena email account from my phone. Authentication failed. I tried renewing the application password, but without success. ( 2FA /TOTP is enabled and I can’t disable it from murena website)

Update went OK
GPS seems to work,
Fairphonecamera works
Internet works
Calender works.

Not tested : Email and Notes app as I do not use the stock apps.

On my FP5 it is com.fp5.camera.
But it should be built in and available after you activate the original FP camera.
