Feedback for v3.1.1

I can’t seem to see the new update in the settings, even when I press “Refresh”. My system indicated that “/e/OS 3.0.4-a15-20250708507307-official-FP6” is the latest /e/OS version. How can I update to the v3.1.2?

Tried to clear cache of ‘updater’-system-app?

It seems both versions of 3.1.2 for FP6 has been revoked.

Good catch! Hopefully this means something is definitely wrong with v3.1.2 and that we’ll see a fix soon. @Manoj do you have any information on this topic?

Tried clearing cache of “Dynamic System Updates” and “Updater”. Didn’t result in anything new. But thanks:)

For me, disabling ‘Automatically select network’ is not helping. Battery drain is much higher in idle than it used to be. Phone lost 8% of battery life in 3 hours completely idle earlier today.
That’s a best-case of 1½ day of battery life whilst not using the phone, whereas on 3.0.4 I was typically only charging my phone every 3-4 days.

Same for me. I took a log by running ran adb shell dumpsys batterystats --reset, letting the phone running on idle for about 1h on mobile data only, and then adb shell dumpsys batterystats > batterystats.txt. In batterystats.txt, under section “Estimated power use”, the largest contributor was indeed mobile radio with top consumers (UID) being u0a201 and u0a198, both being linked to the work profile (activated with Shelter). I guess I’ll need to disable the work profile and see if that “solves” the drain partially.

@grigi : do you also activated the work profile? I remember first seeing the SliderSwitchHandler crash (which prevents the moments button to work on v3.1.2) when installing Shelter. I wonder whether this may affect in some way the work profile and cause battery drain???

Based on my understanding of what a “Work profile” is, no.
I have work accounts that added themselves as “Work account” in Accounts, so may be on implicitly.

If you see something like a “Pro” tab (may be called differently in english, my system is in french) at the top of settings/Accounts, then the work profile is active. I have now disabled my work profile and uninstalled Shelter. Will report back in a few hours if the drain is still there or not.

No, I don’t have any such thing. I didn’t even know it’s a thing. I should try it out at some time.

Unfortunately disabling the work profile/uninstalling Shelter did not solve the battery drain: I’m still seeing approx 3%/hour drain on idle (no screen on-time) :unamused: This seems to fit with your battery dropping by 8% in 3 hours.

EDIT: I did report an issue on gitlab: https://gitlab.e.foundation/e/backlog/-/issues/8888

The switch does indeed work after emptying the storage.

The sound of the camera is then louder but seems to be very overdriven.

The camera’s zoom works. But after zooming several times the camera app crashes.

( e/os/ 3.1.2-a15 official fp6)

@grigi I think I could identify the source of my battery drain: it was the app “Pick to Wake”, which I used as an alternative for tap to wake since this feature is not available on e/OS. After uninstalling the app, the battery dropped by only 1% over 6h idling. I then tried to reinstall it and I was back to >2% per hour. This was not the case on v3.0.4 but at least removing it seems to solve the idle battery drain on v3.1.2 for me. If you have this app or a similar alternative, try disabling it. If that doesn’t work, I’d suggest saving a batterystats.txt log and upload it to e.g. chatGPT, asking for the source of the drain. This is how I could identify pick to wake was at the origin of the drain.

  • :warning: FP6 official users on A15 should pick up v3.1.3 release dated September 5
  • There was a fix missing in v3.1.2 which required another emergency release.
  • We will remove the v3.1.2 FP 6 official release from the updater in case it is still showing up.
  • We are working on streamlining the release process. The quick releases for the FP6 official A15 builds were to resolve issues that were reported at the last minute.

FP6 community builds for v3.1.3 are also being built. We will release them once they are complete. May be later today or by tomorrow.

Version of /e/OS or Stock which existed previously: Official 3.1.2 Sept 3

No issues, at least after first boot Slider working as expected.

I can’t confirm that.

Camera:

  • If you open OpenCamera, select 50MP for the image. Then close the camera app (really closing, like remove it from the app switcher or force stop it) and start it again, the image size is back to 12 MP. Same after a reboot …
  • If you zoom in and zoom out in OpenCamera 3 times, you get a “serious camera error”

Everything went smooth. Thanks:)

I found now to be installed the following apps:
MdmProvisioner
MurenaMdmStub

I feel like they got added with v3.1.1 (but I am not certain on this).
Anyway my question is can these apps be removed safely and is it possible to exclude them in future releases?
Maybe there should be a branch for companies which would require mdm related stuff, but for personal usage I dislike mdm software to be installed (especially without an option to uninstall it).
Slightly different topic, but there are also still some preinstalled apps on homescreen (Music, etc.) which can’t be uninstalled. I remember reading a post that this will be possible in the future but until today nothing happened on that topic. I would appreciate progress on that.

Thank you for your good work.
