I have installed Tasks.org. You are right, it does not work properly with the /e/OS Account Manager. I think that the Tasks.org app does not recognize the Account Manager because it has a different package name.
As a workaround, you can directly configure CalDAV in the Tasks.org app. See https://tasks.org/docs/sync_caldav:
- Install the Tasks.org app
- (Optional) In the /e/OS Account Manager, go to “Settings” > Scroll down to “Integration” > Switch from Tasks.org to OpenTasks again (not sure whether that makes any difference if the OpenTasks app does not work)
- Open the Tasks.org app and select the option to add a CalDAV account
- You may have to tap the Settings symbol in the upper right corner to find the “Add account” option
- Enter the necessary credentials
- User
- For Murena: Your Murena email address
- For general NextCloud: Your NextCloud account name
- Password: I strongly suggest to create an app password, see e.g. How to enable Two Factor Authentication (2FA) 🔑. You should then disallow the file access for this app password, it should not be necessary to sync tasks.
- URL: It is sufficient to enter the domain, you do not have to add a path
- For Murena: https://murena.io
- For general NextCloud: URL of your NextCloud instance
- Server type: NextCloud
- User
- Save by tapping the “Save” (floppy disk) icon in the upper left corner
It should then synchronize your tasks.
Some observations:
- Synchronization is done every hour in the background, see Synchronization | Tasks.org. I have not found an option yet to change this. I will see whether this really has an impact on the battery life.
- If asked, grant the necessary permissions to the app, e.g. for notifications.
- You can enable Markdown support in the settings > “Look and Feel”. Markdown is enabled by default in the /e/OS Tasks app.
- You can group your tasks by list: In the tasks overview, tap on the button with the “arrow up - arrow down” where you can also configure sorting etc.
- The Tasks.org properly supports subtasks and many other customization options.
It should be noted that OpenTasks, on which the /e/OS Tasks app is based, seems not to be developed any longer. According to the /e/OS GitLab, the /e/OS developers have done an update so that the Tasks app is compatible with Android 16, but there seems to be a bug.
I think that @Manoj will report it in the GitLab feedback ticket for /e/OS 3.4 that is created after a couple of days.
