It’s absolutely impossible to activate WhatsApp on my brand new Fairphone 6, neither by downloading the application from App Lounge nor from the official WhatsApp website.
The device is not rooted, the number has not previously used unofficial applications, the number has been registered on Whatsapp in the last 6 years on same device without problems, without bans, the number is not “marked”.
I did a factory reset, erasing all data, and tried again. I still can’t get it to work.
I registered it using only mobile data, I registered it using only Wi-Fi, I registered it without a VPN, without success on any case.
In either case, the answer is always the same: I’m not using the official app.
I don’t find the 2024 and 2025 forums useful on this community, where they just answer you with absurd questions like “did you install the app from App Lounge?” OF COURSE.
Therefore, for the moment, I cannot feel happy with my purchase, and despite not liking Whatsapp at all, I am forced to continue using it.
Therefore, I have to carry both my phones everywhere until someone finds a solution.
