Hi There,
I’m running Nextcloud Files version 3.16.1 and I’m having some issues with the last batch of files for some reason. I can’t tell if this is an issue on the server side or an issue with the Nextcloud client itself. Or, conversely, an issue with Windows. I also have an AppleM1 MacBook air that has no issues syncing files.
When the Nextcloud client starts with my computer, it scans local folders for changes, then begins syncing. I only have about 55 GB left for it to sync, however, it seems to freeze or lock up. If I try pinning the Nextcloud status icon to my taskbar, it locks up Windows Explorer and suddenly I can’t access anything on the taskbar. When I try to click any of my programs (or use keyboard shortcuts to open them) it get stuck and won’t open. The status in Nextcloud sync client says something to the effect of “101 Files of 5200 Files synced.” The time to upload goes from 2 hours to several days and keeps climbing before setting to 0 (see screenshot below:)
I currently have mine configured to “use online files only.”
Here are my Windows computer specs for reference:
Edition | Windows 11 Home |
---|---|
Version | 24H2 |
Installed on | 3/16/2025 |
OS build | 26100.3476 |
Experience | Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.54.0 |
Processor | 13th Gen Intel(R) Core™ i5-1335U 1.30 GHz |
Installed RAM | 8.00 GB (7.69 GB usable) |
System type | 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor |
Here’s a summary of the steps I’ve tried so far (to the best of my recollection)
- Uninstalled/reinstalled Nextcloud client
- Repaired Nextcloud client using Control Panel
- Enabled upload/download limiting (just to see if that made any difference)
- Re-installed Windows (keeping local files and profile as to no lose any data)
- Tried uploading both using a VPN and without to see if there might be a throttling issue with my ISP
Looking around online, I’ve seen lots of these kinds of issues with self hosting instances of Nextcloud Files with older builds of the program.
Has anyone else run into issues with this since files storage has been re-implemented?
Thanks in advance,
-Mel
