I ordered an FP6 for my girlfriend and wanted to flash eOS directly without using her SIM cards in the stock OS.
Now the instructions say that you have to “provision IMS” first.
Is that correct? And if so, why doesn’t Murena have to do this with the Murena FP6?
Many thanks and best regards
it’s a template block advice for all devices. It can / does help esp. with older devices. My intuition says no issues with the FP6 if you don’t ims register in stock first
So, after doing other things I wanted to go all the way now
Unfortunately my laptop does not have a driver in fastboot
I found a guide on the Fairphone page / forum that says to use the Android Composite Adb Interface driver (included in the Google USB driver), but the guide is from 2017
Are there any alternatives? Somehow I can’t imagine that I am the only one who doesn’t have this driver
Used two USB cables (adb worked)
I am currently using Windows 11
I used the Google USB driver (of the three options, I used “Android Bootloader Interface”)
However, I have also read the other variants on the Internet, I have no idea which is the right one and why the others (possibly) also work
After that everything worked without any problems
I didn’t find the instructions on eOS that good either (not only because of the driver)
I like instructions that tell me exactly what to do (script like) and in some places you have to interpret or know
For example, the hint that you don’t have to set up the device again and again (+ Developer Setting) but, and maybe there is even a better way, you can simply switch it off and get directly into fastboot mode (or whatever it’s called) with Volume Down + Power and then send the other commands
You have to enter this menu five times, which saves time
I will report whether everything worked out with the IMS
Sorry for the late reply. It’s bad how you always forget your duty to reply as soon as the problem is solved.
Anyway, I flashed eOS to a fresh FP6 (without having inserted a SIM card). Later I inserted the SIM card and everything worked. As was to be expected, there are no problems if you don’t do the “provision IMS” beforehand.
