Is there a success story topic somewhere?
Recently installed eos on my fourth device. That’s two Samsungs, OnePlus, and now a xiaomi. The xiaomi was just for testing to see if I could circumvent an app ban with a new devoce (didn’t work) but the install was the easiest I’ve done, possibly because the device is ten years old.

That is nice! I have so far successfully flashed three devices, two OP6 and one OP9 Pro. I am very happy with all of them!
Well i for one think that’s exciting! I’m still trying to get the courage to try one . Then I found an old Samsung nobody uses and got all excited until I could not find a sim card to even start itt to charge. 
I would do it in the reverse and find a model listed as compatible in the devids list and then do the install. You can use your current Sim and shouldn’t be any issues. In fact, I don’t think a sum is needed. The phone I just installed I’m using Wi-Fi only
