Hi, I have a Fairphone 3+ with e/OS updated to 3.2-t-20251022539004-official-FP3.
I have serious issues using NFC with italian digital identity card: the NFC connection starts but stops after few seconds. I try to debug with adb on my linux PC and the hardware seems working. The NFC worked last year because I was able to use NFC to set up my digital identity.
No other apps using NFC are installed on the phone.
Hello I had the same issue; how old is your battery? The NFC sensor in just behind the battery and if it is swollen because of ageing the distance between the card and the sensor could prevent the correct transmission.
Nothing to do with battery, from what I can tell. My battery is recently bought.
I have the same issue with the Slovenian ID, and someone else already reported it for another ID card:
I think the issue is that ID cards require a longer NFC session than just a quick tap, which I suspect is the reason why “normal” NFC use works fine, but IDs are problematic.
I tested the id NFC connection with another app and it works: it recognizes card data in less than a second. I suppose you’re right: it seems that NFC doesn’t keep a connection longer than few seconds while the italian CIE ID requests 30 seconds at least. Any idea how hack it?
I am currently struggling with a similar issue for NFC on another phone. The NFC error is actually that the phone - NFC reader is unable to read “Extended Length”. I got this info by the app that wants to read from an personal ID card for online ID procedure. The phone itself is listed compatible for the app and NFC reading procedure in its phone list of compatible devices, so the HW should actually work and it seems to be /e/ OS issue.
With previous releases, the NFC worked with Fairphone + e/os. I was able to setup Italian ID app using NFC without any issue. I’ve been for a long time without using NFC so I cannot say which e/os release stopped working with NFC
I have reset my device and installed again CIE app (italian digital id app). The NFC works but because the app at first installing need only few seconds to recognize the nfc chip. So it worked.
But using with another features of the app wich requires almost 30 seconds, it still doesn’t work.
