I have successfully converted my wife to the use of fairly made, long maintenance lifecycle technology tools, data protection oriented solutions (murena) by converting a Fairphone 3 to Murena OS, therefor leaving the old GAMAMT behind.
For a few months now, she is experiencing issues when calling while using bluetooth items regardless of brand or BT technology, from our over 12 years old car, to our newest EV and any speaker of headset. The problem is that while on call the other person must shout for any sound to be hardly heard. I checked all the call volume settings and have it crancked to the max.
What lead me to the conclusion that the bluetooth was faulty is the number of tests I ran to eliminate other sources, like the absence of issue when using a cable headset.
Is this phone the only one encounting the issue? Please advise for further investigation and potential solutions.
Thank you in advance for your attention tips and tricks.
I am using an FP3+ and Fairphone’s (first-generation) TWS earbuds (not the Fairbuds), and unfortunately I have never been able to take phone calls through the TWS earbuds (using a bluetooth connection, of course). Even when I choose the TWS earbuds for sound output, the caller’s sound is still given out on one of the phone speakers.
Thank you @urs_lesse for your testimonial, hope you find a solution to your (pretty annoying) issue.
As for mine, @Manoj have you or your team encoutered such an issue? Are there any tests or is there anyone you can recommend getting in touch with to assist with troubleshooting?
I have opened an issue with Fairphone, but given the phone is running /e/OS they may decline any help as disclosed on their site.
Did some cross phone testing: use my phon/e/ with my sim, then hers calling the Fairphon/e/ with her sim then mine. Outcome is the issue persists on the FP regardless of sim sim swap, therefor narrowing it down to FP.
Then did Bluetooth appliances swap (almost any BT item we possess) and phenomena still persists. Does anyone have any idea how to troubleshoot a component without any multimeter?
This phone is not under guarantee anymore, and I don’t think I can spend 200€ in another motherboard without any certainty the issue will be fixed.
In my experience Bluetooth problems are often due to Bluetooth versions, this seems at least partly reflected here Troubleshoot a Bluetooth Connection.
