I just upgraded my fairphone to v1.20-s-20250318477351-stable-FP3 as a result multiple apps have stopped working, they either crash on startup or when i try to open an email. Am i alone in this? Is this a known issue and is the a resolution planned?
These failings and the news that revolut no longer supports custom ROMs is forcing me to look at standard android. Which, I really dont want to do, but is if basic stuff like email doesn’t work, what am I to do?
I’d buy a new FP but how can i justify replacing broken with like-for-like, paying x hundred quid to replace a failing device with the same manufacturers’ wares, is like going back to the same dodgy second-hand car dealer for a car replacement.
Failing apps:
Protonmail email client, (Crash on opening email)
Default e/os mail client (Crash when opening app)
Foxit pdf reader (Crash when opening app)
Default app lounge (doesnt load anything)
Saxo trader (Crash when opening app)
UPDATE - Monzo (Crash while using app)
Thanks Aibd. Yeh i have Fp3 bought from murena.io and i am a premium murena subscriber.
Im following that thread for the other chap and i do not have an ‘apps and notifications’ section. The only clear data option i see is to start a factory reset. But i do not want o wipe verything off my phone? Or is that waht is required to upgrade?
It may vary by Android version but try to use the Settings Search facility to search for Updater or System updater as a System app.
or Settings > Apps > … and onwards.
Great that you can raise a support ticket though … as I believe that getting to OTA Android version upgrade to more current Android 13 (T) without data loss was the intended way forward and that it should be possible.
This Clear storage tactic is just a very local clearout of any old unusable content in the Updater itself.
In the end i managed to run the upgrade myself, it meant a full phone wipe. But in the end im back in the good place.
However i did notice that revolut will not be making a come back on 3.0.1 and 3.0.3 will not be supported on Android T: Week 27, 2025: Development and Testing Updates
Which is a pity but ultimately, it just means Revolut is dead to me. There are a dozen banks and only one /e/os/
